I’ve had Goldfinger’s “Superman” queued up all these years for this exact moment.

The late 90s and early 2000s were all about skateboarding. Even the most uncoordinated people in the universe tried to pick up a skateboard and shred some sick ramps. Running in tandem with this craze was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and, to an arguably greater extent, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, both on the PlayStation and Nintendo 64. Almost every veteran gamer, even ones that never touch sports games otherwise, has a soft spot for these games thanks to their tight controls, simple gameplay loops, and deliciously 90s visuals and soundtrack. A previous attempt at an HD remake was made in 2012, but that version was met with a rather lukewarm reception due to some outdated choices and missing features. Activision has decided to take another swing at the remake- er, remaster approach, and this time, they’ve got Vicarious Visions in their corner, the guys behind the Crash Bandicoot remasters.

Today, as a part of the Summer Game Fest, which intends to collect multiple game announcements and trailers into a multi-month event for easy viewing, it was announced that both Pro Skater and Pro Skater 2 would be receiving the remaster treatment as a single package, aptly titled Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. This version of the game will feature completely overhauled graphics and 4K visuals. The same roster of skaters from the original games will return, as well as the same skate locations with a fresh coat of paint and most if not all of the original soundtrack. The game will feature the same gameplay modes as the originals, including the fan-favorite Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater modes, as well as online multiplayer.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will release on September 4 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, priced at $39.99. Pre-orders haven’t opened yet, but when they do, doing so will grant you access to The Warehouse Demo, a trial version where you can take the game for a quick spin in the classic Warehouse stage. The only remaining question is whether or not you’ll still be able to play as Spider-Man. If I can Spidey-Flip in 4K, that’d be incredible.
