The countdown to nostalgia just got a whole lot more exciting. Miley Cyrus has officially revealed that Selena Gomez will make a special appearance in the highly anticipated Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special—and fans are already buzzing.

In a recent conversation with Variety, Cyrus shared her excitement about bringing Gomez into the celebration, calling attention to the deep connection fans have always felt between the two stars. “I love Selena, but I didn’t realize just how much our friendship meant to the fans,” she said. The surprise cameo was made possible with the help of superfan and Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper, whom Cyrus credited for helping make it happen.

Longtime viewers will remember Gomez’s memorable recurring role back in 2007, where she played pop rival Mikayla—one of the show’s most iconic guest characters. Her return promises to add an extra layer of nostalgia to an already emotional celebration.

But that’s not all. Cyrus is also stepping back into her musical roots, revisiting fan-favorite tracks including Best of Both Worlds—a performance she hasn’t delivered since 2008. According to Cyrus, it only took a few rehearsals for everything to fall back into place. “It felt like riding a bike,” she joked, adding that while some tried to modernize the performance, she insisted on keeping its original charm intact.

The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is being described as a heartfelt tribute to a series that defined a generation. Featuring never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage, personal reflections, and unforgettable music, the special aims to reconnect fans with the magic that made the show a cultural phenomenon.

“Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am,” Cyrus shared. “What started as a TV show became something so much bigger—a shared experience that shaped so many lives, including mine.”

The one-time special premieres March 24, 2026—exactly 20 years after the original debut—streaming exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu. For fans old and new, it promises to be a celebration filled with music, memories, and a few unforgettable surprises.
