Who is Trevor Noah? | 4 Times Host of the Grammy Awards
The 2024 Grammy Awards witnessed a night of laughter, music, and Trevor Noah’s charismatic hosting for the fourth consecutive year. The esteemed comedian and best-selling author graced the stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024.
Trevor Noah, renowned for his wit and humor, revealed his excitement about hosting the Grammys on his podcast, “What Now? with Trevor Noah,” a month after the Recording Academy unveiled its list of nominees. Expressing his enthusiasm, Noah shared, “I enjoy the Grammys because I just… I get to watch the show in person and then just experience some comments on it in person while it is happening.”
Noah’s hosting stint on Sunday marked his fourth consecutive turn, solidifying his place as a beloved host for music’s most significant night.
Trevor Noah’s journey from his childhood in apartheid-era South Africa to the global stage is nothing short of remarkable. Beginning his television career in Johannesburg, Noah gained international recognition as the former host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” His seven years in the role earned him two Emmy Awards and TIME magazine recognized him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018.
Noah’s memoir, “Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood,” delves into his upbringing, and he often credits his mother for guiding him through challenging times.
In an interview with “CBS Mornings,” Noah shared his thoughts on hosting the Grammys, admitting to the nerve-wracking experience. He highlighted the delicate balance of making jokes about superstars while being respectful, saying, “I don’t wanna get on the wrong side of Taylor Swift fans.”
Despite the challenges, Noah embraced the live and unpredictable nature of the Grammys, stating, “I don’t know what’s going to happen. So that’s what I love about the Grammys is it’s live; it’s happening; it’s on the fly.”
Apart from his comedy career, Trevor Noah has left his mark in movies and shows. As Jon Stewart’s successor on “The Daily Show,” he hosted from September 2015 until December 2022. Noah also lent his voice to the movies “Black Panther” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
Before joining the U.S. entertainment scene, Noah made history as the first South African comedian to perform on “The Tonight Show” and the “Late Show with David Letterman.”
