Just so everyone doesn’t come on the same day.

Many serial shoppers have been wondering what exactly Black Friday will look like this year. With the COVID-19 pandemic still rolling on, social distancing and frequent hand washing will likely still be the order of the day when the holidays roll around. However, massive shopping events and social distancing don’t really mix, so retailers are going to have to get a little creative if they want people shopping in-store. Walmart’s idea is to turn Black Friday into Black November.

Instead of just one Black Friday sales event for their entire stock, Walmart will be holding three separate sales events over the entire course of November, each focusing on a different department. There will also be separate days for online shoppers and in-person shoppers for each event so people don’t miss out on deals from one or the other.

“We’ve been very thoughtful as we planned this year’s event,” Scott McCall, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Walmart U.S., said in a news release. “By spreading deals out across multiple days and making our hottest deals available online, we expect the Black Friday experience in our stores will be safer and more manageable for both our customers and our associates.”

The first event will start online on November 4, followed by in-store on November 7. The focus for this first sale will be toys, home products, and consumer electronics. If you wanna get Jamie his Turbo Man doll for Christmas, this’ll probably be the time to do it.

The second event will start online on November 11, followed by in-store on November 14. This one will be about the fancier electronics, including TVs, smartphones, computers, and tablets. This day will probably have the most competition.

The third and final event will start online on November 25 and in-store on November 27, Black Friday proper. This one will have a little bit of everything in case you missed something in the previous days, with some added emphasis on seasonal decor and clothing.

Stores will open at 5 AM local time on the sale days. Store capacity will be reduced so everyone’s not shoulder-to-shoulder, sanitized shopping carts will be provided, and door greeters will remind you to don your face mask. Curbside pickup will also be available.
