Over a year later, Trump has still yet to admit his loss.

Over the weekend, former US President Donald Trump held a “Save America” rally in Conroe, Texas to reinforce his intent to run for reelection on the 2024 Presidential ballot. While Trump was impeached by the house for his role in the events of January 6th, 2021, when hundreds of his supporters stormed the United States Capitol in an effort to overturn the election, he was ultimately acquitted for his actions, which means he is still eligible to run.

On the subject of the Jan. 6 insurrection and riot, Trump promised that, if he were to be elected in 2024, he would offer presidential pardons to those who have been arrested for participating in the attack.

“If I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6th fairly,” Trump said Saturday night. “And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons because they are being treated so unfairly.”

Currently, over 700 people have been arrested and charged with various federal crimes for participating in the riot in a still-ongoing investigation by the United States Department of Justice, the largest in the department’s history. To give several examples, over 150 people have been charged with assault of a police officer, and over 50 have been charged with conspiracy against the US government.

In spite of the damages and injuries caused by those who have been confirmed to be his supporters, Trump has still refused to condemn those who participated in the insurrection, choosing to praise them instead for their loyalty to him.
