Barcelona coach Xavi has reversed his decision to leave the club at the end of this season and will now remain in charge until at least June 2025, in line with his existing contract.

The 44-year-old had previously announced his intention to step down as manager this summer, but a change of heart sees him commit to Barcelona’s helm for the foreseeable future.

Xavi’s decision comes after discussions with club president Joan Laporta, who expressed a strong desire for him to continue leading the team.

Since taking over as coach in November 2021, following his departure from Qatari club Al Sadd, Xavi has made a significant impact. He guided Barcelona to the Spanish title in his first full season in charge during the 2022-23 campaign.

However, the current season has presented challenges, with Barcelona trailing behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid by 11 points with six games remaining. Additionally, their Champions League campaign ended last week following a quarter-final defeat to Paris St-Germain.

Despite these setbacks, Xavi’s decision to extend his tenure signals his commitment to the club and his determination to navigate through the challenges ahead.

Having enjoyed immense success as a player at Barcelona, winning 25 major trophies, Xavi’s return to the club as coach has been closely watched by fans and pundits alike. His decision to stay on provides continuity and stability as Barcelona looks to rebuild and compete at the highest level.

With Xavi at the helm, Barcelona fans can look forward to further developments and hopefully, more success in the seasons to come.
