During her highly anticipated performance at the 2024 Coachella festival, Grimes encountered a major technical glitch that forced her to cut short her set.
On Day 2 of the first weekend, the artist faced challenges when her backing music played at double speed, causing visible frustration. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, including restarting her song “Music 4 Machines,” the problem persisted.
Addressing the audience, Grimes candidly acknowledged the difficulty of the situation, stating, “Don’t judge me for being bad at calculating things.” Despite her efforts to keep up with the track, the 36-year-old Canadian artist expressed her struggle with math, leading to a premature end to her set.
While Grimes apologized for the disruption, she emphasized that the technical error was beyond her control. Representatives for the artist have not yet commented on the incident.
Weekend one of Coachella featured a lineup of notable performances, including headliners Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat. The festival’s second weekend offers hope for Grimes to redeem her performance.
