Taiwanese Man Forced to Sell PS5 After his Wife Realizes It’s Not an Air Purifier
If he was gonna try that excuse, he should’ve gotten an Xbox Series X.
Ever since the design of the PlayStation 5 was first revealed, people have drawn all sorts of comparisons between it and various other random things. In no particular order, the PS5 has been likened to a duck’s bill, a generic wi-fi router, a fancy hotel, and an air purifier. Apparently, a man over in Taipei, Taiwan thought he could pass that last comparison off as the genuine article. He was not successful.
In an amusing story shared by Taiwan News, a man named Jin Wu detailed his efforts to purchase a second-hand PS5 on his Facebook. He eventually found a reseller offering the console at a shockingly low price, though when he called them up expecting the man who’s name was listed on the offer, he instead got a woman. According to Wu, from his dialogue with this woman, it seemed like she didn’t know much about video games, but was oddly insistent that the console needed to be removed from her home.
When Wu went to meet the reseller to obtain his console, it was the middle-aged man he was first expecting. The deal went off without any problems, but before he left with his prize, Wu couldn’t help but shake his curiosity.
“Did you buy two? Otherwise, why are you selling it?” Wu asked.
The man’s face fell, before he admitted, “My wife wants to sell it.” After Wu didn’t respond, the man added “It turns out that women can tell the difference between a PS5 and an air filter.”
“I could feel his pain,” Wu told Taiwan News.
Since its release, the PS5 has become one of the most sought after consoles since, well, the PS4. People have been monitoring retailers like hawks, with one man over in Dublin, Ireland waiting in front of a store for 36 hours just so he could get a console on Black Friday. It’s a shame that man had to give up his PS5 after what was a likely a long wait, but in fairness, he probably should’ve told a more convincing lie.
