LeBron James Unveils ‘Space Jam’ Sequel Title

Everybody get up, it’s time to slam now.

24 years ago, Space Jam happened. I don’t know how it happened, I don’t know why it happened, but it happened. Michael Jordan teamed up with the Looney Tunes to defeat monstrous martians in basketball with the Tunes’ freedom on the line. Also, Bill Murray was there. There are few things as indicative of the millennial mindset as Space Jam, and that is why, when the long-anticipated sequel comes out, I will see it with gusto, and the memes will flow forth.

Since the announcement of the Space Jam sequel, though, we’ve been missing a vital component: a name. Everyone’s just been calling it “Space Jam 2,” but after a little reveal courtesy of the new film’s star, LeBron James, we now know that’s not the case.

James posted a brief clip on his Twitter, merely showing himself nodding. The eye-catching aspect of the clip is the hat he’s wearing: a simple baseball cap with the logo of the new film emblazoned on the front. Thanks to this logo, we have the name: Space Jam: A New Legacy. Beautiful.

Last year, Warner Bros. dated the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy (man, that feels good to say) on July 16, 2021. It is not currently known if this date has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic or other outside circumstances.
