One lucky investor made a whole bunch of kids’ days.

As the big GameStop stock surge winds down, a lot of investors from the WallStreetBets Subreddit are still holding onto their shares in efforts to either drive the price back up or continue to annoy hedge fund managers. While a lot of these investors may have missed out on one of the biggest pay days of their lives, a lucky few sold their shares when the value was at its peak last weak, securing an impressive profit. One of these investors decided to use his newfound fortune to do something nice for the kids.

Hunter Kahn, a 20-year-old from Minnesota currently studying mechanical engineering at Cornell University, bought shares in GameStop when the prices were still between $30 to $80. Last week, he cashed a large portion of his stash, turning a cool $30,000. Kahn originally considered an old dream of his, owning a 1990s Corvette, but upon further consideration, decided to use part of that money to buy a swath of game consoles for the sick kids at Children’s Minnesota hospital. Kahn purchased a large quantity of Nintendo Switch Lite handheld consoles, plus games, and donated them to the hospital for the patients to enjoy.

“I wanted my donations to be GameStop purchases since this is how it all started, and there’s no one more deserving of Nintendo Switches than some kids going through a hard time,” Kahn told ABC News.

“I just walked up to the front desk. I didn’t actually get to give them out to the kids or anything like that. I’m sure that even without COVID there are security reasons why they can’t do that, which would make sense,” Kahn said. “But they made it super easy to donate. I just walked in, walked up to the front desk and said, ‘Hey, I’d like to give you guys these Switches.’ And the dude sitting there was like, ‘Oh, awesome. Thank you.'”

“We’re grateful for donations that help bring joy to kids at our hospitals, especially during these challenging times,” hospital officials said in a statement to ABC News. “The generosity of our community makes a difference to kids whose worlds have been turned upside down because of a health crisis.”
