Anthony Davis Speaks Out on Lakers’ Disappointing Performance in Loss to Cavaliers
The Los Angeles Lakers were left licking their wounds after a tough 134-110 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. The game slipped away from the Lakers early, with the Cavaliers dominating from the first quarter onward, giving the Lakers their second consecutive loss on a five-game road trip.
Star forward Anthony Davis, who posted 22 points despite dealing with visible discomfort on the court, didn’t sugarcoat his post-game assessment. “We regressed. We were awful offensively,” he remarked, summing up the frustration felt throughout the Lakers’ lineup.
While the Lakers shot a respectable 49.4% from the field and made the most of their trips to the free throw line, their lack of rhythm from beyond the arc and frequent ball-handling mistakes proved costly. The team hit just 6 of 28 three-point attempts and committed a season-high 21 turnovers, leading to 32 points for Cleveland. In contrast, the Cavs demonstrated strong team chemistry with 37 assists, while the Lakers managed only 21, struggling to find open looks and make plays for one another.
After winning three games to kick off the season, the Lakers now face an 0-2 record on their current Eastern Conference road trip, which continues Friday in Toronto. With plenty to clean up, Davis emphasized the need for a shift in focus: “We have to get back to playing the basketball we know we’re capable of — this wasn’t it.”
As they prepare to face the Raptors, the Lakers will look to regain momentum and play with the determination fans expect from the iconic franchise.
