Now the real pain begins.

Out of the original Karate Kid trilogy, Part III is the most poorly regarded. It rehashed a lot of stuff from the first two movies, including a go-nowhere romance sub-plot and a weirdly incompetent Daniel LaRusso, considering everything he had been through. However, in spite of all that, there is one element of that film that most critics agree is a bright spot: the performance of Thomas Ian Griffith as the film’s primary antagonist, Terrence “Terry” Silver. Well, it’s been 32 years, I think it’s time to bring the pain in earnest once again.

The official Netflix YouTube channel posted a new teaser trailer for the fourth season of Cobra Kai, the sequel series to the Karate Kid trilogy. The brief teaser features an ominous silhouette of Griffith in character as Terry Silver with an equally ominous narration.

“If a man can’t stand, he can’t fight. If a man can’t breathe, he can’t fight. If a man can’t see, he can’t fight. Extreme situations require extreme measures.”

Fans have been requesting a return for Terry Silver since Martin Kove’s character, John Kreese, was reintroduced to the show. However, Griffith retired from his acting career back in 2007, so his presence in the show seemed rather unlikely. It seems, though, that the Cobra Kai producers were able to talk him into coming out of retirement for one last throwdown.

“Since the beginning of the series, we’ve been carefully orchestrating the right moment to unleash Cobra Kai dojo co-founder Terry Silver back into the universe. That moment is now. We can’t wait for the whole world to experience Thomas Ian Griffith’s majestic return to the franchise,” said executive producers/writers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.
