America’s sweetheart is making a comeback thanks to Netflix
Reese Witherspoon starred as rom-com characters we fell in love with, from Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde” to Melanie Smooter in “Sweet Home Alabama” she has proved to be America’s sweetheart. The great news is that she’s going to be bringing America’s sweetheart back to rom-com movies thanks to Netflix.
Reese Witherspoon just committed to play the leading lady in two upcoming rom-com Netflix originals including “Your Place Or Mine” and “The Cactus.”
The first rom-com “Your Place Or Mine” is about a single mom who goes to pursue her lifelong dream, leaving her son in the care of her male friend who she realizes she’s actually in love with him. “Your Place Or Mine” is set to be directed and written by the screenwriter for “The Devil Wears Prada,” Aline Brosh McKenna.

“The Cactus” is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Sarah Haywood about a single 45-year-old civil servant, Susan Green. The lead character has lived a uniform and meticulously planned life until she realizes she is pregnant after meeting a businessman on a no-strings-attached dating website. This leads Green on a journey towards learning to embrace the unexpected with family and love.
Witherspoon will also be working on the film behind the camera as her production company, Hello Sunshine, is making both films. Witherspoon is a proud owner of her production company since the young age of 25 years-old and she is an inspirational figure for women in Hollywood.
The only thing left to decide is who will play the leading man lucky enough to grace the screen with America’s sweetheart.
