Patrick Mahomes Speaks in Defense of Jackson Mahomes

Patrick explained the brief altercation between his brother and a Ravens fan.

Last weekend, after the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Kansas City Chiefs due to Clyde Edwards-Helaire fumbling the ball, there was a minor commotion following the game. As anyone who’s ever been to a public sporting event can attest, fans tend to get a bit rowdy after a game whether their team wins or loses. On their way out of the stadium, Jackson Mahomes, younger brother of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was met with some jeers from a couple of Ravens fans in the stands. In response to their heckling, Jackson opened a water bottle and dumped it over both of their heads.

Neither of the guys on the receiving end of the water seemed especially bothered by the encounter, but nevertheless, this generated a bit of controversy, with some accusing Jackson of giving his brother a bad name and acting out of line. Recently, Patrick opted to comment on his brother’s encounter, conceding that it wasn’t the best move to make, but adding that the hecklers were making more unsavory comments toward Jackson and his wife than the viral footage may let on.

“Yeah, I mean, obviously it’s something that we don’t want to necessarily do,” Patrick told The Kansas City Star. “There was things said to him, and Brittany, that you don’t see kind of on the clip. But, I mean he’s been good at it, at not trying to respond to that stuff.

“He takes a lot and he’s usually pretty good at it, and he’ll learn from it and just try to stay away from those people as best he can.”
