Neymar’s Unauthorized Lake Construction Lands Him a Costly Fine

In a recent development, the municipality of Mangaratiba in Brazil has imposed a hefty fine on renowned footballer Neymar for undertaking construction work without proper authorization at his beach house in Rio de Janeiro state.

The fine amounts to a staggering 16 million reais, equivalent to approximately $3.3 million or 3 million euros. It pertains specifically to creating an artificial lake within the extensive gardens of Neymar’s residence, where he is enjoying a well-deserved break from his commitments with the Brazilian national team and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Environmental authorities visited the property a fortnight ago and discovered multiple irregularities, halting the ongoing construction and prohibiting the establishment of the lake.

However, Neymar seems to disregard this decision, as evidenced by videos circulating on the internet showcasing a party he hosted at his residence just a few days after the authorities intervened.

So, what led to Neymar’s hefty fine from Brazilian authorities? Among the irregularities uncovered during the inspection were unauthorized alterations to stream courses, the unlawful extraction of water from a nearby river, prohibited excavations, irregular movement of rocks and soil, and the usage of sand sourced from the neighboring beach.

The construction work was being carried out in the Aero Rural condominium, adjacent to Portobello, where Neymar owns yet another lavish mansion spanning an impressive 5,000 square meters.

This recent setback adds to Neymar’s numerous headaches on and off the football field. Speculation is rife about his footballing future, with reports suggesting that PSG is keen to offload the player. However, the main challenge lies in finding a club capable of affording his exorbitant wages.
