Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry Celebrate Daughter’s Birth

Holy moley, has it been nine months already? It feels like just yesterday that Katy Perry showed off her pregnant belly in her “Never Worn White” music video, which was released… ah, back in March. Well, that explains the time dilation. Regardless, the clock’s run out, and Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s new daughter has been born unto the world.
Perry and Bloom announced the birth of their daughter, named Daisy Dove Bloom, on the Instagram account of UNICEF, for whom both of them are official spokespeople.
“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the couple said, alongside a black and white photo of Daisy’s hand being held by Bloom and Perry. Then went on to ad that they had been lucky enough to have a “peaceful” birth without any complications or setbacks.
“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was,” the couple said, taking the opportunity to remind the world of the medical hardships brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.”
The couple then encouraged anyone who had money to spare to donate to UNICEF in order to help medical institutions facilitate safe births. They have since opened an official donation page on UNICEF’s website.
“By supporting UNICEF, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your ❤️ can bloom with generosity,” they concluded.
