The Heat has a 2-1 series lead.

During their current series against the Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat turned in a somewhat lackluster performance in the second game, taking a heavy loss and tying things up. Apparently, though, that particular loss really lit a fire under the Heat (pun unintended), because over the weekend, the came roaring back for a 109-103 victory against the Celtics.

“They beat us like we stole something in Game 2,” Heat center Bam Adebayo said. “So that woke a fire up in all of us.”

“Something about this team is just that we have guys that are hard workers,” Heat point guard Kyle Lowry said. “Udonis [Haslem] always says we all got it the hard way, all of us. A lot of undrafted guys, a lot of lower-round-pick guys, second-round guys. We all found ways to make this our living and found ways to do our job at a high level and to be here and to stay. That’s big for us.”

The Heat’s victory over the Celtics is especially impressive considering their star forward Jimmy Butler needed to leave the game midway through due to an aggravated pre-existing condition in his knee. Butler’s knee has been in worrisome shape since he injured it during the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, though it is isn’t believed he’s in dire shape now.

“He didn’t have his, like, normal explosive burst,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said of Butler. “He’s been able to manage this. I think the next two days will be really important, obviously.

“At halftime, really, the trainers made the call. Just feel like we’ve been in this situation a lot with a few of our guys. We almost have to restrain them. We get it, and we love it about them, how they are wired. But we also don’t want to be irresponsible.”
