Mariah’s called the whole phone book in order to make this holiday a little more special.
Speaking as someone whose childhood holiday celebrations were pretty subdued, I do not envy those who typically have big Christmas dinners this year. Politics are going to make everything awkward, the pandemic is going to make everything straight-up dangerous, and it will likely be that much more difficult to obtain everything on the kids’ Christmas list. It’s gonna be a stressful season, to say the least. On the bright side, Christmas season means TV Christmas specials, including one from the Queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey.
This year, on December 4, Mariah Carey, who you almost definitely know for “All I Want for Christmas is You,” will be hosting her very own Christmas special on Apple TV+, aptly titled Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special. Apparently, according to the somewhat limited information available on the Apple TV+ listing, Carey herself will be teaming up with Santa Claus to create a “holiday spectacular to make the whole world merry.” Goodness knows, Santa could use some help in that department.

The special will be packed to the gills with celebrity and musical guests, including (but not limited to) Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland and Mykal-Michelle Harris. Carey’s own children, twins Moroccan and Monroe Carey, will also be making an appearance.
Alongside the Christmas special, Apple Music will be releasing the special’s soundtrack single, including a music video for “Oh Santa!” performed by Carey, Hudson, and Grande. So if you need something to smile about and are in the mood for a musical, you’ve got something to look forward to in a couple of weeks.
