Los Angeles Rams Debut New Uniforms

New season, new look.

Back in March, the Los Angeles Rams officially retired their previous colors of navy blue, light gold, and white, which they had been using since their time in St. Louis in 2000. The new colors, as named by the team, are “Rams Royal,” “Sol,” and “Bone,” which are pretty much just slightly different hues of blue, gold, and white. Color theory is complicated, what can I say. On the heels of the completion of California’s new SoFi Stadium, and the Rams’ upcoming first match against the Dallas Cowboys (eventually), the team has decided it’s time for some fresh digs.

The Rams unveiled their new uniforms today, showcasing three different color combinations, as well as metallic chrome blue helmet with a very stylish pair of golden ram horns spiraling on the sides. The first combo features a blue jersey with yellow pants with a gradient player number and a blue stripe on the pants. The second combo features a double bill of blue on the jersey and pants with a gradient golden stripe. The third and final combo features a white jersey and white pants with blue numbers and a blue stripe, respectively.

According to Kevin Demoff, the Rams’ chief operating officer, the new uniforms were intended “to match the style and design” of SoFi Stadium, “but still have the tradition and some elements that our fans had come to know and love.”

Rams receiver Robert Woods was pretty chuffed about the new digs. “I already told my friends this is the coolest jersey I ever wore, I ever got to put on,” he told ESPN. “It just feels like we’re a part of something new and exciting. … We’re setting the trend, really.”

The fan reaction to the design change in March was mixed, to say the least, and Demoff says the team is aware of that. However, he believes that “Jerseys and logos in sports become part of the lexicon and become iconic because of what players do in them not because of what the design is.” He added that the team is “really excited to see it come to life.”
