Lisa Kudrow Laughs at Friends Scene, Texts Matt LeBlanc Over “Giant Booger” Mix-Up

Proof that great comedy ages like fine wine (or questionable buffet seafood): Lisa Kudrow recently revealed she laughed so hard while rewatching Friends that she had to text her former co-star Matt LeBlanc just to emotionally recover.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kudrow shared that a rewatch of the season 8 episode “The One in Massapequa” triggered a full-blown laughter meltdown—complete with tears, confusion, and one unforgettable seafood-related misunderstanding.
The culprit? A scene featuring Joey (LeBlanc) dramatically complaining about a “giant booger” at a party buffet—only for it to be revealed that Phoebe (Kudrow) had, in fact, tossed an oyster on the floor. Yes, an oyster. Not a booger. Science is still investigating how Joey reached that conclusion.
“I started crying—I was laughing so hard,” Kudrow admitted, recalling the moment she realized just how absurd (and brilliant) the joke truly was. “Actual tears.”
The laughter didn’t stop there. In what experts are now calling a “comedy aftershock,” Kudrow immediately texted LeBlanc to relive the moment. His response? A casual confirmation that, yes, the cast did indeed have a good time making one of the most iconic sitcoms in television history. Groundbreaking.
The episode also featured a guest appearance by Alec Baldwin, though it’s safe to say the oyster stole the show—and possibly Joey’s trust in buffet hygiene forever.
Kudrow’s recent revisits to Friends come with a deeper emotional layer as well. Following the passing of Matthew Perry in 2023, the actress shared that rewatching the series has become a way to celebrate his humor and legacy. “It’s about remembering how hilarious he was,” she noted.
Still, the experience isn’t without its quirks. Kudrow confessed she secretly watches the show at night—only after her husband falls asleep—because, in her words, watching herself on TV feels “a little embarrassing.” Ironically, she also admitted she barely remembers most episodes, making every viewing feel like a surprise reunion with extremely funny strangers… who happen to be her.
Fans can look forward to seeing Kudrow back on screen soon in season 3 of The Comeback, premiering on HBO. Whether oysters will be involved remains unconfirmed.
