Singer-songwriter Lily Allen, known for her candid and open approach to life’s many facets, recently shared a lighthearted and humorous moment on her podcast, Miss Me?. During the episode, she joked about potentially kink-shaming her husband, actor David Harbour.
In a playful tone, Allen revealed, “I wonder if I kink-shame my husband because he often asks for things and I’m like, ‘No, babe, it’s not happening.’ I’m not like, ‘You piece of s—, how dare you ask me to do that!’ I’m just like, ‘Hmm, headache. Little headache, got a bit of a headache — maybe not tonight.'”
Despite her jest, Allen emphasized her commitment to being accepting and open about various aspects of personal and sexual life. She reflected on her past, especially during the end of her previous marriage to Sam Cooper, sharing, “I’m quite into normalizing everything that people are ashamed about in themselves.”
Allen has been vocal about her experiences, including her promiscuity and experimentation during her previous marriage, which she also detailed in her 2018 autobiography, My Thoughts Exactly. “I wrote about it in my book,” she noted. “I lived in a state of perpetual fear in that period of time, always feeling like I was about to be ‘gotcha’d’ by the tabloids. So, I thought to take a little bit of the power back, I would reveal it myself in my book.”
By sharing her experiences, Allen aims to help others feel less alone and more comfortable with their own actions and behaviors. “I think that lots of other people have done the same thing,” she said. “When they hear someone like me talk about their own experiences in a non-shameful, matter-of-fact way, it makes people feel better about themselves.”
Allen and Harbour began their relationship in 2019 and tied the knot in Las Vegas on September 7, 2020, with an Elvis impersonator officiating their wedding. Their candid and humorous approach to their relationship continues to endear them to fans worldwide.
