Last week, through his personal Truth Social social media platform, Trump told his followers that, according to “illegal leaks” he supposedly received from the US Justice Department, he will be indicted and arrested for this charge this week. Trump then urged his followers to protest this alleged indictment, writing, “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

During a news conference this morning, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy spoke in support of Trump’s case, believing that he will be found innocent of all charges, and claimed that the investigation conducted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was politically motivated, pledging to run his own investigation into the DA for politically-motivated charges. “I don’t think people should protest this, no. And I think President Trump, if you talk to him, he doesn’t believe that, either,” McCarthy said in response to a question from an NBC News reporter during the House Republicans’ retreat in Orlando.

“Nobody should harm one another … We want calmness out there.”

Trump’s alleged indictment is supposed to come about this Tuesday, March 21.
