Bieber has sold the rights to all of his songs and albums to UK-based music company Hipgnosis.

Canadian-American pop musician Justin Bieber has accumulated at least 290 individual songs since he began his career at 13 years old, comprising six albums and 33 single releases. All of those songs, formerly Bieber’s exclusive property, are now the property of UK-based music licensing giant Hipgnosis.

In a landmark deal for the music industry, Bieber sold the rights to his entire discography to date, including his newest album Justice, to Hipgnosis. The precise figures of the deal have not been disclosed, but according to industry insiders, it has a price tag of approximately $200 million. If this figure is accurate, that would make it the largest discography sale of any musician in Bieber’s generation.

“Justin is truly a once in a generation artist and that is reflected and acknowledged by the magnitude of this deal.” Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun said in a statement Tuesday.

“The impact of Justin Bieber on global culture over the last 14 years has truly been remarkable,” said Merck Mercuriadis, founder of Hipgnosis Song Management. He added that Bieber is one of the most important musical artists of the streaming age, and that “the acquisition ranks among the biggest deals ever made for an artist under the age of 70.”
