Boyega has gotten his fill of the galaxy far, far away.
Young actor John Boyega got his big break as the deurtagonist of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, playing the role of former Stormtrooper-turned-swashbuckling hero Finn. While the franchise was a big stepping stone for him, though, Boyega is content leaving his involvement with it where it is and moving on to other projects in his career.
âAt this point Iâm cool off it. Iâm good off it,â Boyega said in an interview on SiriusXMâs Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang. âI think Finn is at a good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation. But I feel like â[Episode] VIIâ to â[Episode] IXâ was good for me.â
âTo be fair, [with] the allies that Iâve found within Joel Taylor and Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris, Viola Davis, all these people Iâve been working with⊠versatility is my path.â
In addition to his role in the franchise, Boyega addressed the concerns of racism that other black members of Star Wars production casts have faced. Recent instances of this include backlash to Moses Ingram’s role in Obi-Wan Kenobi, which Disney moved to protect him against.

âMoses Ingram being protected makes me feel protected. Do you understand what Iâm saying? It makes me feel like, âOkay, cool. I am not the elephant in the room.â Because when I started, it wasnât really a conversation you could bring up,â Boyega said. âYou know how they went through it. It was kind of like, letâs just be silent. It wasnât a conversation you could bring up. But now to see how blatant it is, to see Ewan McGregor come and support⊠for me, [it] fulfills my time where I didnât get the support.â
