The Giants finalized the deals right before the NFL deadline.

Tuesday afternoon was the deadline for NFL teams to finish up using any remaining franchise and transition tags, which means if they wanted to shake up their rosters before the next season, that’s their last chance to do so. The New York Giants made one last move before the deadline, signing Daniel Jones to the tune of $160 million.

Jones’ deal includes $82 million up front, plus an additional $35 million in extra incentives. Giants general manager Joe Schoen hopes that the team can maintain a long and fruitful relationship with Jones on their team.

“We had productive conversations with Daniel and his representatives over the course of the past week or so,” Schoen said in a news release announcing the deal. “We are all pleased that we were able to come to an agreement prior to today’s deadline. This gives us a greater ability to continue to build our roster.”

Jones has enjoyed his time with the Giants since being drafted in 2019, and is eager to keep playing with them. “I said after the season I love this place,” Jones said in a statement. “I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I want to be here. I have great respect for this organization, the Maras, the Tisches, my coaches and teammates. I am happy we were able to come to an agreement.”
