Miller could face up to 26 years in prison if found guilty.

Back in May, actor and star of The Flash Ezra Miller was apprehended by authorities of Stamford, Vermont for breaking into a home and stealing property. This week, the trial officially began to determine Miller’s guilt on the charges of burglary into an occupied home and petit larceny. Should Miller be convicted of both charges, they could face up to 26 years in prison.

Miller has pled Not Guilty to the charges, with their lawyer affirming their recent endeavors to address their personal mental health issues. “Ezra Miller this morning pled not guilty to one count of burglary and one count of petit larceny in Vermont Superior Court and accepted the court-imposed conditions of not contacting or entering the home of the inhabitants. Ezra would like to acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be a vital presence in their ongoing mental health,” said Miller’s attorney Lisa B. Shelkrot.

Miller began treatment for their condition back in August following a public apology for their various outbursts, including the aforementioned break-in, and two instances of disorderly conduct and assault in Hawaii. “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said at the time. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
