Emma Roberts Eager for Potential Britney Spears Role in Upcoming Biopic
Emma Roberts has openly expressed her enthusiasm for portraying Britney Spears in the upcoming biopic based on the pop star’s memoir, “The Woman in Me.” After Universal Pictures announced its plans to develop the movie, buzz around casting Roberts intensified, fueled by comments from Spears’ former assistant, Felicia Culotta, who endorsed her for the role.
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Roberts didn’t shy away from her excitement: “It’s my true dream to play Britney Spears,” she revealed. While she clarified that her involvement is still in the realm of rumor, her dedication to embodying the pop icon is clear. Roberts recalled her younger days of immersing herself in Spears’ music, notably the album “In the Zone,” ensuring she knew every lyric by heart.
The actress, who became a mother in 2020, also shared how Spears’ music is a regular part of her life, often playing during bath time with her son. “That’s some millennial parenting,” she joked in the interview. This personal connection to Spears’ music only adds to her desire to take on this role.
“The Woman in Me,” released in late 2023, dives deep into Spears’ rise to stardom and her personal struggles, including the contentious 13-year conservatorship that strained family relationships. The memoir’s adaptation will be directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Marc Platt of “La La Land” fame, though a release date for the film has yet to be announced.
As anticipation builds, Emma Roberts remains hopeful that what began as a casting rumor might soon become a reality, allowing her to bring Britney Spears’ tumultuous and triumphant story to the big screen.
