The anchor has been suspended indefinitely for the questionable aid he supplied to his brother.

Earlier this week, documentation was released by the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James on the lengths to which CNN news anchor Chris Cuomo went to support his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, during his bout of sexual harassment allegations last year. This documentation, among other things, included transcripts of “strategy” calls and texts between the brothers on how to handle the accusations. Based on these concerns, CNN has decided to suspend Chris Cuomo from reporting on their network indefinitely.

“The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense,” a CNN spokesperson said Tuesday evening. “The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions.”

“When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly,” the spokesperson continued. “But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second.”

“However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew,” the spokesperson added. “As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”

On his personal SiriusXM radio show, Cuomo said that he will respect CNN’s investigation and evaluation process, and that it was never his intent to compromise any of his colleagues. “It hurts to even say it. It’s embarrassing,” he said on his show. “But I understand it.”
