Channing Tatum recently amused fans with his humorous response to a question about why he wasn’t representing Team USA in Olympic breakdancing. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor, known for his iconic role as male stripper “Magic” Mike Lane, responded to a TikToker’s query about why he wasn’t competing in the sport at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Tatum, alongside his Blink Twice costar Naomi Ackie, laughed off the suggestion. “That would be sick,” Tatum said with a chuckle, before adding, “I would just do a lot of stripper moves.” Despite his lighthearted answer, Tatum admitted that he’s not particularly skilled in breakdancing.

While Tatum’s Olympic dreams were limited to his imagination, breakdancing made its debut at the 2024 Games, capturing significant attention. One competitor, Australian breakdancer Raygun, went viral despite not scoring any points from the judges. Her unique routine garnered praise from singer Adele, who called the addition of breakdancing “f—ing fantastic” and shared her and her friends’ amusement over Raygun’s performance. Chloe Fineman and Rachel Dratch also joined in on the fun, parodying Raygun’s moves on social media and on The Tonight Show.

As for Tatum, he’s keeping busy with his upcoming film Blink Twice, directed by his fiancée, Zoe Kravitz. The movie, which also stars Haley Joel Osment, Alia Shawkat, and Christian Slater, hits theaters on August 23.

Though Tatum may not be breaking it down on the Olympic stage, his playful take on the question adds to his charm and keeps fans entertained as they look forward to his latest film project.
