Who better to read you Harry Potter than the man himself?
Many of us have fond memories of our parents reading to us. You, curled up in bed with the lights turned down, them at your side with your favorite fantasy book. It’s a very wholesome experience. A book of choice for many millennials was, of course, the first in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (or the Philosopher’s Stone if you live anywhere besides the US). Whether you have kids yourself or want to recapture some of that bed time magic, J.K. Rowling, along with the folks over on the Harry Potter website, Wizarding World, have arranged to have some very special guests take you that first journey all over again.
Starting today, a different celebrity guest will read a chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone every day. The first chapter, now available, features the man himself, Daniel Radcliffe, covering the first chapter. After him there will be a star-studded lineup of friends and fans of the Wizarding World, including (but not limited to) Dakota Fanning, Claudia Kim, David Beckham, and Noma Dumezweni.
Surprise! We've got a treat for you…From today, amazing friends of the Wizarding World are going to take turns reading Harry Potter book one.
And to start us off with Chapter 1, we think you’ll agree we have the perfect narrator…⚡️ #HarryPotterAtHome

These readings are part of Rowling’s “Harry Potter at Home” program, which offers a wide swath of Harry Potter-themed activities for kids and families to have some fun while in pandemic isolation. Rowling also recently loosened copyright restrictions on the Potter books, allowing grade school teachers to read the books out loud to their students through school streaming services like Google Classroom.
Daniel Radcliffe’s reading of chapter one of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is available in video format on the Wizarding World website, or in audio-only format exclusively on Spotify.
