Brady and Perriman Team Up on Buccaneer Victory
Brady launched the pass, Perriman brought it home.
During Sunday night football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were up against the Buffalo Bills in a dragging overtime. Having lost their early-game lead, the Bucs were in a deadlock with the Bills where one touchdown would clinch the game. That final touchdown came from the combined efforts of Tom Brady and Breshad Perriman.
Brady launched the ball and Perriman received it (though apparently it was originally intended for Mike Evans), and Perriman ran it all the way to the end zone, a grand total of 58 yards.
“Yeah, we had a crosser called and they kind of jumped Mike coming across the field and left B.P. back there, and I kind of picked him out of the corner of my eye and got it to him and he made a great catch and run,” Brady explained after the game. “He’s got great speed. Once I saw him in the open field, I was like, ‘Go B.P.! Run!’ And he did.”
Perriman, who had been cut from two other teams this season, was eager to earn his keep, and more than did so with that last touchdown. “It was kind of a blessing. Just how my year been going so far, I can’t really put it into words,” he said. “I’m just thankful to God, and I’ve got my teammates. They make me feel like I’m on top of the world, and it’s a great feeling.”

In an additional interesting note, this was the 700th pass Brady had thrown in his career, though he would’ve rather it not been for an overtime walkoff. “I’d much rather have it not come down to that,” Brady said. “In the end they all count the same. We’ve got to learn from it and move on. Obviously, we’re playing for a division championship next week, which is pretty exciting for all of us.”
