Nurburgring, GT World Challenge, and Le Mans Winners Join Aston Martin for a Thrilling Year Ahead

Aston Martin Racing is set for a formidable 2024 season with the addition of acclaimed drivers to its roster. Nurburgring 24 Hours winner, David Pittard, GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup champion Mattia Drudi, and Le Mans 24 Hours class winner Henrique Chaves have joined the prestigious team, signaling a potent blend of experience and skill.

The roster includes stalwart AMR drivers Marco Sorensen and Nicki Thiim, both secured on new long-term contracts. Joining them are Jonny Adam, Ross Gunn, and Valentin Hasse Clot, all retained for their proven prowess on the track. Aston Martin legend Darren Turner, boasting three Le Mans class victories, continues his association with the marque, marking his 20th season with a comprehensive deal that includes development duties with Aston Martin Lagonda.

Regrettably, Charlie Eastwood departs Aston Martin to embrace a new challenge as a Corvette Racing driver with Chevrolet.

While full programs for each driver remain pending confirmation, Marco Sorensen is slated to race the new evolution version of the Vantage GT3 in the World Endurance Championship’s LMGT3 class with the AMR-run D’station Racing squad. Additional programs for Sorensen and other drivers are yet to be announced.

David Pittard, who clinched victory at the Nurburgring enduro this year racing a Frikadelli Ferrari, officially becomes a full-fledged AMR driver after two seasons with Aston machinery. Mattia Drudi, transitioning from Audi after winning the GTWCE Sprint Cup title, expresses honor in joining Aston Martin as a works driver, citing the conducive environment for his development.

Henrique Chaves, a pivotal part of TF Sport’s successful WEC GTE Am assault in 2022, including a Le Mans class win, is set to represent Aston Martin as a works driver after a stint with Garage 59 McLaren in the GTWCE.

Aston Martin Head of Endurance Motorsport, Adam Carter, highlights the strategic move, stating, “As we prepare to embark on a new era for Aston Martin in endurance racing, we’ve assembled an ultra-competitive works driver lineup. This group of drivers knows how to win and is expert at extracting every ounce of performance from a GT car, while at the same time harnessing the endurance capabilities necessary to win at this level.”

The 2024 season promises to be an exciting chapter for Aston Martin Racing, blending seasoned veterans with emerging talent, all aiming for victory on the global endurance racing stage.
