10 Frozen Treats of the Bygone Age
Nothing says childhood nostalgia like frozen novelty treats.
In the lost age of ice cream trucks, frozen treats had to get a little more creative to garner a child’s short attention span. There’s only so much room on the side of the truck for menu pictures; you gotta make what you have count. In loving memory of the late 90s and early 2000s, here’s some treats that live on in our hearts, if not in ice cream trucks or grocery stores.
Bug Pops
Hakuna matata: it means ice pops with little gummy bugs in them. And, to a lesser extent, no worries, I guess.
Sprinklers
More sprinkles! MORE SPRINKLES! ALL OF THE SPRINKLES! TWICE!
Popsicle Shots
If Dippin’ Dots weren’t a thing, these would totally be billed as “the ice cream of the future.” Tell me you couldn’t see an alien eating these on Tatooine.
ScrewBall
A slushie and gum strike me as like, contrasting desserts? But that’s what was fun about snacking in the 90s, there weren’t really any rules.
Viennetta
It’s like lasagna! Ice cream lasagna! Without any dumb ricotta! You know what you did, ricotta.
Itzakadoozie
It’s like three tropical popsicles locked in eternal conflict. And it’s also really frigging long.
WWE Ice Cream Bars
Can you smell what The Rock is cookin’? Because apparently, it’s chocolate wafer cookies. How nice.
Character Ice Cream
It just wasn’t a childhood summer without warped faces and bubble gum eyeballs.
Micro Pops
…what do you mean “they’re the same as Shots?” No they’re not. No one asked you, shut up.
Nestle Push Ups
These are the chameleons of the ice cream world. They’ve worn the faces of The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and Shrek. Now they lurk in the shadows, carefully selecting their next target.
