Wilson has been down for the last three games due to an injury.

Due to a preseason knee injury, severe enough to require surgery, New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has been out for the past three games. During the first preseason game, Wilson was downed with a bone bruise and torn meniscus, requiring surgery on the same knee that he had previously received surgery for last season.

After a lengthy recovery, though, Wilson has been officially cleared by health officials and is ready to get back in the game, with his return set for the Jets’ upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I’m full go. I’m going to play ball how I can,” Wilson said after he was cleared. “If somebody comes up, [I’ll] make somebody miss, get out on the edge, extend plays when I need to, hang in the pocket. I’m playing exactly how I should be.”

“He’s very comfortable,” said Jets coach Robert Saleh. “He’s in a great mental state. Everyone is comfortable with where he’s at physically.”

Saleh has cautioned the team against relying too heavily on Wilson, noting that due to a combination of his rehabilitation and his playstyle, he won’t be able to carry any particularly strenuous plays. “It’s exciting to get him back out there,” Saleh said. “But at the same time, it’s not all about Zach. It’s making sure we’re executing on all cylinders.”
