Trigun Manga Receives New US Printing After Over a Decade

Trigun Manga Returns: Bigolas Dickolas Wolfwood’s Viral Impact Sparks Excitement for New Deluxe Editions!

Trigun fans in the United States have something to look forward to this December, as Dark Horse Comics announced their plan to re-publish Yasuhiro Nightow’s renowned sci-fi western manga, Trigun, in a hardcover Deluxe Edition. The manga has not been printed in the US for over a decade. The re-released edition will have a whopping 672 pages and combine the original manga’s two volumes into a single book. The first volume of the Deluxe Edition of Trigun Maximum, the sequel to Nightow’s original manga, will also receive a Deluxe Edition release in April 2024.

This news comes after the successful premiere of Trigun Stampede, the first new anime adaptation of the series in over a decade, earlier this year. The anime’s popularity was boosted by an unexpected viral sensation known as “Bigolas Dickolas Wolfwood.” The 22-year-old Twitter user tweeted a plea to read a sci-fi queer book, which went viral and has since gained over 114,800 likes and approximately 79,300 bookmarks. The tweet not only had a real-time effect on the book’s Amazon rankings, which was documented by the author and books columnist, El-Mohtar but also ramped up the anime’s popularity following Bigolas’ interview with Insider, recommending the show to the masses.

In light of the anime’s success and Bigolas’s influence, the upcoming Deluxe Edition of Trigun and Trigun Maximum could not have come at a better time. Trigun centers on the story of Vash the Stampede, a pacifist gunslinger who roams the desert planet of Gunsmoke in search of redemption. With the help of his friends, Vash must battle his twin brother, Millions Knives, and his army of ruthless henchmen. The Deluxe Editions will feature the original oversized 7×10″ page format, similar to the Deluxe Editions of Kentaro Miura’s Berserk.

The Deluxe Editions of Trigun and Trigun Maximum will make the manga more accessible to fans, new and old alike, and are expected to garner even more interest in the series.
