Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has publicly addressed his recent outburst towards head coach Andy Reid during Sunday’s Super Bowl, deeming his behavior “definitely unacceptable.”

During the game against the San Francisco 49ers, Kelce, 34, was visibly upset when he was taken off the field after a fumble by Isiah Pacheco. In a moment of frustration, Kelce bumped into Reid and shouted in his face, a gesture he now regrets.

In a statement on the New Heights podcast, co-hosted with his brother Jason, Kelce expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging that his behavior crossed a line. “I can’t get that fired up to the point where bumping coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff,” Kelce admitted. “It’s definitely unacceptable and I immediately wished I could have taken it back.”

Jason Kelce, who played under Reid with the Philadelphia Eagles, echoed his brother’s sentiments, noting that the level of yelling was “over the top” and suggesting there were better ways to handle the situation.

Despite the incident, Kelce emphasized his respect and admiration for Coach Reid, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to play under his mentorship. “I love coach Reid. He knows how much I love to play for him, how much I love to be a product of his coaching career,” Kelce affirmed.

Both Kelce and Reid had previously downplayed the incident, with Kelce joking about the encounter during a post-game interview and Reid confirming that Kelce had apologized.

Kelce concluded his statement by expressing regret for his actions and reaffirming his commitment to the team and its coaching staff.
