Duos are so in this year.
It took a little while, but I think it’s safe to say that the dust from Avengers: Endgame has officially settled. With all that out of the way, Marvel’s got their work cut out for them putting together a follow-up act in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They seem to be off to a good start with the success of WandaVision on Disney+, but if they want to get those hype thrusters firing properly, they’re gonna need to pump the gas a little.
To counteract WandaVision‘s slightly more toned-down, er, tone, Marvel released a trailer for their next action-packed MCU series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, during yesterday’s Super Bowl game. As the two closest associates/friends of the now-retired Captain America, it falls to Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), to pick up the slack when Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) returns alongside anarchist terrorist group the Flag-Smashers. Along the way, they’ll butt heads with Peggy Carter’s great-niece, Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), as well as John F. Walker, aka US Agent, the new government-sanctioned successor to Captain America. James Rhodes, better known as War Machine (Don Cheadle) is also slated to cameo in the series ahead of his very own series scheduled for some time in the next few years.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will have a six-episode mini-series run on Disney+ starting March 19. It’s not currently known if there’ll be any crossover between this show and any of the current or future MCU shows like Loki, Ms. Marvel, or Hawkeye, or the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder.
