Taylor Swift breaks records at the box office with Life of a Showgirl album event

Dwayne Johnson’s The Smashing Machine barely made noise while Taylor Swift’s showgirl magic ruled theaters.

Taylor Swift just can’t stop breaking records. Her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, didn’t just top the music charts; it also took over the box office this weekend.

Swift turned her album release into a full-on cinematic experience with The Official Release Party of a Showgirl. It was a special three-day event shown in theaters around the world. The film wasn’t a regular concert movie or a behind-the-scenes documentary. Instead, it was a collection of music videos, fun clips from the making of the album, and the premiere of her brand-new music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” which Taylor directed herself.

Fans showed up in massive numbers. The event pulled in around $33 million in the U.S. and another $13 million internationally. It brought the total to an impressive $46 million. Pretty amazing for something that was announced just two weeks before release.

Screenings took place in over 500 theaters across major cinema chains like AMC, Cinemark, and Regal. Fans absolutely loved it. They gave it an A+ CinemaScore and a 93% positive rating on PostTrak. Critics were divided. Some called it creative, and others said that it felt rushed. However, audiences clearly had a great time.

At the box office, Taylor easily outshined her competition. Dwayne Johnson’s sports drama The Smashing Machine made only $6 million, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another came second with $11.1 million, reaching over $100 million worldwide.

Taylor has again proved that she can turn an album into a full-scale entertainment experience. With The Life of a Showgirl, she didn’t just release new music; she created a weekend event that fans will be talking about for a long time.
