Wilson didn’t mince words on his own performance.

Last night saw a head-to-head between the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts. Prior to the game, Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was in high spirits, ready to do his best on the field. One game later, ending with a 12-9 overtime loss, he wasn’t in as good of a mood.

“It’s very simple — at the end of the day I’ve got to be better, I’ve got to play better,” Wilson said. “The defense played their butts off tonight, we had some key good drives. … At the end of the day throwing two interceptions can’t happen. Can’t happen. I let the team down tonight.”

While his own performance in the game left something to be desired, Wilson stood by his and coach Nathaniel Hackett’s decision to opt for a winning kick rather than a tying first down with two minutes left in overtime.

“We had a good play call on. … Guy made a good play,” Wilson said. “I was ready to move around if I needed to. … We went for it. We didn’t want to end in a tie, we wanted to win the game. … I’ve got to find a way to make a play, whatever it takes.”

“We felt like we should have won that game. I felt like I let us down tonight,” Wilson said. “Lot of season left, lot of opportunity. [There is] so much good, but the bad is bad. We should have won that game. It’s on me.”
