Lady Gaga Hilariously Roasts Herself on SNL and Swears She’ll Never Make Joker 3

Lady Gaga pokes fun at her past mishaps on SNL, from an infamous performance to her Razzie-winning Joker sequel.

Lady Gaga has never been afraid to take risks—whether it’s wearing a dress made of meat, performing in outer space (almost), or starring in a controversial movie sequel. But this weekend, she proved she’s also not afraid to poke fun at herself.

As both the host and musical guest for Saturday Night Live, Gaga had fans laughing from the start with jokes about her past career choices—including one performance she’d rather we all forget.

“Whatever you do, don’t Google it”

Gaga kicked off her monologue by reflecting on the last time she hosted SNL back in 2013.

“And every aspect of my performance aged amazingly,” she said, shifting in her seat like someone who just remembered they forgot to turn off the oven.

Then, with a nervous smile, she added, “There’s no need to Google ‘SNL 2013 Lady Gaga featuring R. Kelly.’ Absolutely no need at all.”

The audience erupted in laughter, fully aware of the now-infamous duet. Back then, Gaga and R. Kelly performed a very suggestive rendition of “Do What U Want (With My Body).” Years later, after Kelly was convicted of serious crimes, the performance didn’t exactly hold up well. Gaga distanced herself from the song in 2019, removing it from streaming platforms and replacing his vocals with Christina Aguilera’s.

But instead of dodging the controversy, Gaga met it head-on—because if there’s one thing she knows how to do, it’s own moment, no matter how awkward.

From Gotham to the Razzies

After addressing that SNL performance, Gaga moved on to another… let’s call it polarizing moment in her career: Joker: Folie à Deux.

“I’m an actor now,” she said with a dramatic pause. “And I take my craft very seriously. That’s why I was honored to be part of Joker 2.”

Then, with a grin, she added, “Apparently, the world also loved it! Because Joaquin [Phoenix] and I won a Razzie for Worst Screen Duo.”

For those unfamiliar, the Razzies are like the Oscars—but for movies people really didn’t like. Winning one isn’t exactly a career highlight, but Gaga took it in stride.

“Joke’s on them,” she declared. “I love winning things! And now, I’m one step closer to an EGORT—which is like an EGOT, but with a little extra shame.“

(For context: an EGOT is when someone wins an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. An EGORT? Well, that’s a new one.)

No Joker 3—Unless Forced

Before wrapping up her monologue, Gaga made one final promise to the audience.

“Hosting SNL is really special to me,” she said sincerely. “Tonight, I vow to act, to sing… and to never, ever make Joker 3.”

Then, after a perfectly timed pause, she added, “Unless I’m forced to at glitter-gunpoint. In which case—send help.”

With that, she kicked off a night of music, comedy, and self-deprecating humor, proving once again that whether she’s winning Grammys, Oscars, or Razzies, Lady Gaga will always put on a show.
