A vision of the past, or a glimpse of things to come?
You know what the best part of being part of a fandom is? Wild mass speculation. Something about seeing people deconstruct trailers and teasers in a frenzied search for even a single scrap of a hint of information makes me feel all clam chowdery inside. Of course, there’s no genre better suited for speculation than a horror/sci-fi mystery, which would most definitely explain the newly reignited frenzy surrounding Netflix’s Stranger Things.
Details about the upcoming fourth season of Netflix’s smash-hit series have been rather scarce in recent months. The last look we got was all the way back in February of 2020, when we learned that Hopper was alive and well in the snowy drifts of Russia. The COVID-19 pandemic has likely put a major hamper on filming efforts, but it looks like things are finally back on track.
Today, Netflix released another brief teaser for season four, giving us a look at the Hawkins facility where Eleven’s psychic powers were first fostered, as well as a few of the other children that were being experimented on. Concrete details are, of course, completely absent, leaving the aforementioned wild mass guessing to fill the void.
Some users have noticed that both this teaser and the previous one had codes on them showing “2/4” and “1/4,” respectively. This seems to imply that there will be at least two more teasers before either a proper season trailer or, heaven forbid, a full season drop. Photos of the cast on set, clad in COVID-safety face masks, have been circulating online, so filming has been in progress for at least some of the past year. How much longer we’ll have to wait to see the return of Eleven and company, though, is anyone’s guess.
