Anderson Silva Greenlit for Jake Paul Fight
Silva has been cleared by health officials.
This week, MMA fighters Anderson Silva and Jake Paul announced in a press conference that they will fight a bout this Saturday. The two hyped up the fight by making a wager: if Paul loses, he’ll fight Silva again in a kickboxing match. If Silva loses, he has to help Paul form a new MMA fighters’ union.
Ahead of this upcoming match, Silva underwent a bevy of tests from MMA medical officials. Last month, during a training camp, Silva was knocked out twice consecutively, raising concerns with the officials that he may be unfit to compete. Silva claimed in a recent interview that the knockouts weren’t that bad, and that he was just joking around.
“When I’m talking about the knockout, it’s just to help the [teammates] who help me, to [lift] them up,” Silva said. “I was just joking. It’s crazy, but it’s fine.”

Nevertheless, he was required to undergo medical exams, including an MRI, to determine if it was safe for him to fight. According to MMA physician Dr. Ara Feinstein, Silva is in perfectly good health, with his MRI and neurological results coming up clean. As such, it should be fine for him to compete on Saturday.
“When I look at all of those things together, I don’t have any more concerns with Mr. Silva fighting Saturday than I would have any other fighter,” Feinstein said.
