Tesla Releases Tequila, Sells Out Immediately
Get drunk the Elon Musk way!
Back in April of 2018, as an April Fool’s Day joke, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted a tweet of himself passed out against Model 3, surrounded by empty bottles of “Teslaquila,” apparently all drunk out of sadness for the company’s bankruptcy. Obviously, Tesla didn’t actually go bankrupt (though it apparently came close), and there’s no such thing as Teslaquila. Or at least there wasn’t until yesterday.
On Thursday, Tesla stealth-opened pre-orders for a genuine Tesla Tequila, created in partnership with Nosotros Tequila. One 750 mL bottle of this stuff, stylishly shaped like a lightning bolt, costs $250, shipping included.
According to the product page, Tesla Tequila is a “100% de agave tequila añejo made from sustainably sourced highland and lowland agaves. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and into a hand-blown glass bottle, Tesla Tequila features a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish.” The page also ads that Tesla Tequila is “best enjoyed as a sipping tequila.”

Orders are limited to two bottles a pop, but if you were hoping to get some now, you’ve sadly missed the boat. Just a few hours after the product page went live yesterday, the entire stock sold out. If you’re one of the lucky ones who actually managed to score a bottle or two, you should receive yours some time before the end of the year. So I guess if you’re a big fan of Tesla or know someone who is, you’ve already got your Christmas present in the can for the year.
