Sitcoms and current events often go together like bread and butter. It gives the writers an opportunity to place their characters in a situation that would usually go by the wayside in typical scripting, plus it takes some of the idea work off their shoulders. Always Sunny‘s fifteenth season is currently in its negotiation stages, and the pandemic has likely slowed things down a bit. However, McElhenney has said that, if given the opportunity, he’d happily continue working on the show for the rest of his life.

“If people keep watching it and we keep having fun, why would we ever stop? It’s my dream job.”
