Liverpool Close to Signing Juventus Star Federico Chiesa for £10.9m
Liverpool is reportedly close to signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, with an agreement in place for a fee of around €13 million (£10.9 million). According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Italian international has “immediately accepted” the move to the Premier League, and is set to join Liverpool on a four-year contract.
Liverpool has been relatively quiet in the transfer market this summer. Their only signing so far has been goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was signed for €35 million but immediately loaned back to Valencia. With the transfer deadline approaching, Liverpool is rumored to be interested in three new additions, including a center-back, a central midfielder, and a wide forward. However, their primary focus seems to be on Chiesa.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Liverpool is in discussions with Juventus and Chiesa’s agent to finalize the transfer details. Juventus is asking for around €15 million for Chiesa, who could leave for free next summer. Liverpool is also negotiating the player’s salary, which is seen as a crucial part of the deal. Romano believes Chiesa would be an excellent signing for Liverpool, praising his speed and suitability for Liverpool’s attacking style.
Later on Wednesday, Romano confirmed on social media that an agreement with Juventus had been reached. He announced, “Federico Chiesa to Liverpool, here we go! Agreement done for €13m initial fee with add-ons. Four-year contract for Chiesa as a new Liverpool player, set to fly later today. Chiesa accepted Liverpool immediately. Deal DONE.”
David Ornstein from The Athletic also reported that Liverpool has made travel arrangements for Chiesa to fly to Liverpool, where he will undergo a medical examination. The move is expected to be completed soon, making Chiesa the first summer signing for Liverpool under new head coach Arne Slot.
