Lady Gaga Gives her Jacket to a Fan in a Heartwarming Moment
She literally gave her the jacket off her back.
Lady Gaga, in addition to being a worldwide music and film sensation, is a pretty nice lady in general. She’s a stalwart activist, especially for LGBTQ+ folks. Last year, she delivered a truly stunning speech for the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall uprising. Dressed to the nines in a rainbow ensemble, she told the crowd “This is your freedom. This is your joy that you have deserved always. I will not stop in pursuit of this liberation.”
But not all acts of kindness require a coordinated outfit and a standing ovation. Sometimes, all you need is a simple gift and a genuine smile. This was what Gaga fan Shannon McKee experienced earlier this week when she met the Lady herself during a shopping trip in Malibu, California.
At first, McKee wanted to compliment the stranger on her “bad-a–” jacket, but when she realized this stylish woman was, in fact, Lady Gaga, out with her boyfriend Michael Polansky, she needed to say something a little more.
“I did have a story that I wanted to share with her, and I felt this need that she needed to hear it from me,” McKee said on an Instagram post that has been deleted. “And so when I went back, I was like, ‘Hey, you’re Lady Gaga, right? My best friend back in high school was a huge fan of yours. And you’re the reason he actually came out to me.”

She added, “And his first five tattoos are all dedicated to you and my brother just recently came out to me, too. So I just wanted to say thank you for being such an incredible ally.”
In a single, swift move, Gaga removed her cool jacket, and held it out to McKee. “As I was telling her the story about my friend, she took off her jacket and was like, ‘You loved my jacket so much. Here. It’s yours. Put it on right now. You be bad a– with it now,'” she said.
McKee was absolutely floored by this act of generosity. “I wanted to cry because it was so heartfelt in that moment. I have been a fan of hers since I was in high school. Timing is everything. I truly believe in this moment of time… it needed to happen.”
