While the Knicks ultimately lost the game, Randle established himself with a new personal best.

On Monday night, the New York Knicks took on the Minnesota Timberwolves at Madison Square Garden. It was a rough game for the Knicks, who needed several quarters to really get in gear, too little too late as they ultimately lost to the Timberwolves 140-134. However, while it wasn’t the best night for the Knicks overall, one of them did manage to distinguish themselves with a new scoring record.

During the game, Knicks power forward Julius Randle set a new career high for his personal scoring record, bringing in 57 points over the course of the game. While he would’ve liked to win the game, Randle was happy to have his name on the record board after the game. “Those are legends in this game,” Randle said. “And pioneers, specifically for this organization, who laid the groundwork and led the way for players like myself to come behind them, be able to play the game I love. Be able to grind, put on that Knicks jersey with pride.”

“It’s a shame to waste a performance like that,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said about the game.

“He played so well,” added Knicks guard Jalen Brunson. “He brought us back, he played unbelievable. We just got to be better as a team to help him make that career night feel like something special. But when you lose that, kind of just chops all the feeling out of everything.”
