In a positive turn of events, the long-running legal dispute surrounding It Ends With Us has officially reached a resolution. Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, alongside Wayfarer Studios, confirmed on May 4 that they have agreed to a settlement before the case was set to go to trial this month.
The joint announcement reflects a tone of reflection and forward momentum. Both parties emphasized their shared pride in the film and its broader mission. “The end product — the movie It Ends With Us — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,” the statement read. “Raising awareness and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors remains a goal we strongly stand behind.”
Acknowledging the challenges that emerged throughout the legal process, the statement also addressed concerns raised during the dispute. “We recognize that this process presented difficulties and that concerns brought forward deserved to be heard,” it continued. “We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments.”
The resolution comes after several months of legal back-and-forth, including a significant court ruling in April that dismissed a majority of the claims in Lively’s lawsuit. Remaining issues were expected to be addressed in the now-canceled May trial.
The case originally stemmed from a complaint filed in late 2024, following the film’s press tour, during which speculation about tensions between the co-stars gained public attention. Both sides had strongly defended their positions throughout, with additional filings, statements, and developments continuing into 2025.
Despite the intensity of the dispute, the settlement signals a collective desire to move forward constructively. The statement concluded with a hopeful note: “It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows everyone involved to move ahead in peace, while also encouraging a more respectful environment both on set and online.”
With the matter now resolved, attention may once again shift to the film’s message and its impact — a reminder of the important conversations it aimed to spark from the beginning.
