“I thought it was important to talk about Palestine because it’s an issue very close to my heart,” Hannah Einbinder said.
Hannah Einbinder might have won big at the 2025 Emmys, but it’s her speech that has become the talk of the town. The Hacks actress took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and rather than concluding her moment with a simple thank-you, she decided to make a bold statement.
After Hannah thanked her team, she concluded her speech by saying, “Go Birds, f–k ICE and free Palestine.” The last part was censored during the live broadcast. However of course, the uncensored clip quickly hit social media and went viral.
Some people thought her words were out of line. One critic posted, “Any Jewish actress who uses her moment to support terrorists in Gaza has no moral compass.” Another wrote, “No clue who Hannah is but way to end whatever was left of your career.”
But Hannah Einbinder also had plenty of fans cheering her on. One supporter said, “Hannah is a very brave young woman. Most of Hollywood stays quiet, but she stood up.” Another person called her speech “powerful and honest.”
After the show ended, the Hannah explained why she chose to spoke up. Wearing a red Artists4Ceasefire pin on her gown, she told reporters, “I thought it was important to talk about Palestine because it’s an issue that’s very dear to my heart.”
She shared that she has friends working on the ground in Gaza. She feels a responsibility, as a Jewish, to separate Jewish identity from the dirty actions of Israel. Love it or hate it, one thing’s clear that Hanna’s Emmys speech will be remembered just as much as her win.
