Lewis Hamilton Stays Unshaken by Critics as He Aims for F1 Glory in His 40s

Lewis Hamilton has never been one to back down from a challenge, and his latest move to Ferrari at the age of 40 has sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 world. Critics called it a risky decision—some, like former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan, even labeled it “suicidal” for Ferrari. But Hamilton isn’t paying attention to the doubters. Instead, he’s laser-focused on proving that age, criticism, and past failures mean nothing when you’re built different.

Hamilton’s Formula for Success: No Distractions, No Limits

Hamilton’s confidence is unshakable, and he’s made it clear that his single-minded focus on winning sets him apart. In a candid interview, he pointed to sports legends like Tom Brady and LeBron James as proof that elite athletes can dominate well into their 40s.

But what really sets Hamilton apart? According to him, it’s the fact that he’s fully committed to his craft—no wife, no kids, no distractions.

“You can’t compare me to another 40-year-old, past or present, Formula One driver in history. Because they are nothing like me. I’m hungry, driven, don’t have a wife and kids. I’m focused on one thing, and that’s winning.”

That mindset might be controversial, but it’s undeniably part of what has made Hamilton a seven-time world champion. While some see their personal lives as fuel for success, Hamilton sees his independence as an advantage—allowing him to give 100% to the sport.

Silencing the Critics in Style

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was met with skepticism, especially given Carlos Sainz’s strong partnership with Charles Leclerc. But Hamilton isn’t interested in the noise. Instead, he welcomes it.

“I’ve always welcomed the negativity. I never, ever reply to any of the older, ultimately, white men who have commented on my career and what they think I should be doing. How you show up, how you present yourself, how you perform slowly dispels that.”

It’s a powerful statement from a driver who has faced resistance his entire career—not just for his decisions on the track but also for breaking barriers as F1’s only Black driver. Hamilton’s words serve as a reminder that he’s not here to fit into the mold of past champions—he’s here to redefine what’s possible.

Early Ferrari Success Hints at a Championship Battle

Hamilton’s Ferrari debut got off to a shaky start, but it didn’t take long for him to remind everyone why he’s one of the greatest of all time. By the second day of pre-season testing in Bahrain, he was already topping the timesheets—proving he’s adapting quickly to his new car.

While pre-season results don’t always predict the championship outcome, former F1 star Juan Pablo Montoya believes Hamilton could dethrone Max Verstappen this year.

“Verstappen is not going to be a problem for Lewis this year,” Montoya confidently stated, suggesting that Red Bull might not have the same dominance they’ve enjoyed in recent seasons.

If Montoya is right, Hamilton could be on the brink of making history yet again—becoming the first driver to win an F1 title at 40 since Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1950s.

A Season Like No Other

Whether you love him or love to doubt him, Lewis Hamilton is stepping into his Ferrari era with something to prove. The critics may keep talking, but if his early Ferrari performances are anything to go by, he’s ready to let his driving do the talking.

Could this be the year Hamilton claims his record-breaking eighth championship? If there’s one thing we’ve learned about him, it’s never to count him out.
